NEWPORT COAST CLIMB |
Lead | |
|
Here are some photos of the Corona Del Mar Beach which I ride along as a warm up to riding up Newport Coast and the view from Newport Coast. A great place for climbing, there are 3 ways up to the 700 foot elevation, and two roads on up to the 1100 foot elevation.

Fasttour,
These photos made me homesick for the beach. I lived in Santa Ana and rode to the beach all the time way back when I was young. I miss is so much. Of all the places to ride, this is tops. Corona Del Mar overlooking the channel where we rode to that evening is my favorite place on earth. You are so lucky to live so close. I love those pictures. Michel |

Got it, see you in the morning. If we are ambitious we can climb San Jauquin, vista ridge and NC from both directions.

Steve the cloverleaf route we took including going to the beach was about 3000 feet of climbing, a short ride, but a significant amount of work.

Hi Jim,
I hope you are ok? You sure took a nasty fall at the park. How is your lip and chin? It was fun riding up the hills. It was also fun coasting down Newport Coast. I had a great time today. We should try more hills when I get my 26t and 52t rings and when you feel better. Steve |

Lots of scabs, lip is still a bit fat but coming down. Knee is still a bit swollen and tender. I'm taking it easy letting the immune system get a leg up.
But did ride around the neighborhood for an hour or so yesterday and today which helped loosen up the knee. Yes three of those hills are pretty good coasting,
while Park Ridge is pretty good braking. My 700 has new shoes now, so I'll take it next time.
