I started reading up on recumbents and the 700 just jumped out at me. After more research I found a bike shop in NYC (bfold) that had it in stock. After all the reading I have done here, I was pretty much sold on it before I arrived at the store (Thank You!) then I saw and sat on it. Long story short, I picked it up last week. I know how much you all like pictures so here is one of it at Flushing Meadow Park before the test ride. Funny thing is that the test ride lasted like 4 hours. What a ride! Thank you all again for all the knowledge you share. Any advise on accessories will be really helpful. I'm just using a couple of things from my upright for now. Looking forward to learning more. David

Well, done on your purchase of a Catrike. And welcome to the Pride. The deal with the tininess of the flag is to reduce drag. Especially if you are going to be seriously pushing that bad boy, (...and that's the exact trike to do it in), you want to be seen, yes, but you want to reduce drag where you can. Big flags are pretty and all, but they can slow you down, catching the air they do. If you aren't really hammering, fine.

I wish I did not have to use a flag at all, but being in NYC I feel it's a must and the bigger the better. I'll keep the original flag for times I want less drag, and no flag at all for speed. Most of my riding on the Cat is off the main roads, but even then I have to share some of the time with cars. Still looking for better places to ride the trike in and around the Queens NY area. Anyone with ideas please share them. David

Also see if any of the Mars group are active. I met some of them in 2003 and there are some great folks who have been in MARS. I first saw the MARS zotefoam fairings at a NYC cycling event. http://www.recumbents.com/mars/

Hey, I just did the same thing here. Drove out to State College and bot a new 700 on Thursday. Surgery made my running and biking days over, but not on this thing. No back pain riding this, awesome.

Recumbent bikes and recumbent trikes. 'bent bikes and 'bent trikes. I think referring to only the bikes as "recumbents" causes unnecessary confusion.

Great to hear you are riding again and pain free to boot. I was out over the weekend and on top of getting caught in the rain, getting a flat and putting a hole in the replacement tube when trying to fix said flat. I had a blast. I did experience a bit of pain in my right knee and need to look into why. My first time out was longer with no pain at all. Welcome, enjoy and ride safe!
