Between four legged and two legged threats I started wondering on my way home if some type of protection is recommended. So, what's up. How many of you carry protection and what kind do you carry?

I also carry pepper spray for animals. BUT. I do STRONGLY recommend you know what you might be getting yourself into. Unless you have LOTS of experiance with firearms I would just carry pepper spray

I'm licensed to carry a concealed weapon - but when riding bicycles or motorcycles I don't carry. Bring a cell phone, get a license plate number and let the appropriate law enforcement do their job. It won't matter if you felt threatened - if you pull a pistol while on the road you will either go to jail, the hospital, or both. You can carry pepper spray with the intent of guarding yourself against a potential dog attack - but it is a weapon so you must only brandish it in self defense. Neither one is going to protect you from any automobile, and will do more to attract trouble than deter it.

Posts: 2717 Jan 15 11 4:50 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I prefer a can of wasp spray myself, it will shoot at least 20 feet, and is more effective than pepper spray. Since it shoots a stream, it doesn't dispers the way pepper spray does, works on dogs, people, snakes, and even wasps. As for guns, they're permenant, and that's something I don't care to live with unless it's absolutly necessary. David

I've always been able to deal with altercations verbally... or just by leaving. Since we live in reality, we must admit that when seconds count, police are only minutes away. If you do not protect yourself, relying upon others including police, you may end up counting daisies. Jeff in Tucson

I've never had reason to pull the Glock, but have pulled the pepper spray for a vicious, unchained/unattended dog.

You wouldn't kill or seriously harm anyone or thing but you could certainly get said person or thing to turn tail quickly! I mean minors have them so how does the laws apply?? Any ex-cops want to tackle this one??

Ex-Army and know how to use it. I don't brandish or give any hint that I have it. Should only be used as a last resort. Then again, I live in Houston. Also carry a karambit; it's easier to use in CQC.
