OK,
Something a little different. Sea and Sky Spectacular 2009
The sea and sky spectacular, an airshow and beach assault demonstrration weekend takes place a bit south of my house. Peggy and I ride down the beach near the flight zone and watch from the shore for a while. Some years I ride to the land demo area, but no bikes or trike are allowed so I take my commuter and lock it up and walk the early show in Jacksonville Beach.
What else is available in the area?
A road ride to a french fort reconstruction? Some sidewalk, some bikelane, some two lane road.
Twenty five mile drive to the eastern trailhead of the Jacksonville Baldwin trail?
(Jacksonville is six hundred square miles. It takes a drive to get across town.)
Because of the higher traffic at the beach on this weekend, I wouln't push road riding for any but the very accustomed to traffic rider. Complete road rides before noon because of alcohol and drivers.
Of course the beach, bathing, kite sailing, fishing.....
Hotels on the flightline book early...and sometimes there have been sonic booms...
Campgrounds include some north and south of the Saint Johns River. Hanna Park on the south bank. Hugenot on the northbank are Jacksonville city parks. North of Hugenot are big and little Talbot Islands. Camping on little talbot on the marsh side.
Any interest?
