A "light"

came on in my head. I took a drink/pop/soda bottle and used it as a cover; shot some pictures; published to my blog; and now, I'm posting here. So, what do you think. Of course my blog has a bit more detail and a link to my uploaded photographs.

REI is selling some tough little (and big) mylar food bags guaranteed waterproof and smell-proof. Put your phone in one of them and the bear will never smell that pizza flavor still lingering from lunch.

I'm liking the rigidity of my no-cost [except for the contents] bottle solution. Actually, bags will not adapt as easily as the bottle to my mount and from experience will keep the phone dry and available for what ever purpose. Of course, the REI mylar food bags may work well for you and your iPhone mount. --jim

I didn't realize your bottle was a press-on tight fit. It looked like a concept in the making, and rattle-worthy. I don't have an iPhone so I don't know how they are mounted.

Sorry that was not clear to you Mr. Elso. It is tight and can be made more so with Velcro on the back side. I have to say I've been fabricating [not lying], prototyping, and otherwise creating interesting and functional cycyles for a while. I don't go willy-nilly at a project. If I did, I wouldn't post. When I post an idea, I do so with due consideration of potential users. Many of blog published creations continues to be read, with conversation following on the how to's.

There are other solution that cost $50.00+. Many times I seeking a manufactures solution because I can afford to do so. I also like that I can apply my mind and many times arrive at effective, if not more effective solutions for me. Certainly no reader is compelled to do anything I post. I just happen to be a member who shares.

I'm cheap, a zip lock bag works well for me, and since I don't regulary ride in the rain, I have an ample supply of the bags. I applaud your engenuity James, Silk is truely a work of art.

Interesting idea. After I saw this, I grabbed for the container that my last 1 TB SATA HD came in.

Got this:

Now if this were a bit smaller....one might be able to work it into something useful for the iPhone on the trike thing.

Me too [at least where I can be], so I can get the big toys. Anyway, a zip lock doesn't work around my mounts quite as well as the bottle. Thanks for the compliments on Silk!!! Stay dry...

Cool! Hoping to inspire lot of ideas. Thanks! Fashion the back for a mount, while keeping rain out and another viable solution. But, for in-pocket, no mods needed. There are many answers to the little questions we face. --jim

My bottle picture [and idea] travel the world...

This is cool, I think. Interesting how an idea spreads around the world. You saw Gizmodo's presentation of my idea the keep my iPhone dry in the rain. Well other publication [including American Bike Hacks.com] have presented the story in their countries. Here is a list so far:

Now, the French join the list. I know about these countries from referral statistics.
