Posts: 4 Aug 2 12 7:46 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I look at wearing a helmet the same way as I do any piece of safety gear... it may not be guaranteed to be 100% effective in every situation, but it only has to work once to make the difference between inspecting the grass from the green side versus the roots! Just got a trike so can't speak to that. I can tell you that wearing a full face helmet on my motorcycle kept me from breaking my jaw in an accident. A bike helmet prevented me from a large goose egg when the wheels went out from under me on a turn in the rain on wet pavement on my road bike. May very well have saved my life or kept me from being a vegetable when I did an endo on my mountain bike. Walked away from that with a concussion, bent wheel and pancaked helmet.

Yes, I got a new type of bicycle one day called a Mountain Bike it was a new genre back then. The guy who sold me the bike insisted I pay for this expensive Bell helmet. The two of us were descending a fire trail coming down big bear mountain.... I hit something with the front tire I think it was almost completely buried rebar.... it grabbed the front tire and the front wheel stayed where it was and the rest of the bike and I pivoted "ass over tea kettle" over the handlebars. I hit flat on my back feet downhill, knocked the wind out of me... when I did get to my feet to cuss I felt the back of my head (which was a helmet) and detected an indentation and a crack. So that bike shop owner cost me the price of that expensive white helmet.... I got less than ten miles out of. But if it weren't for him, I wouldn't be typing this for myself. I guess i'll get more serious about helmet wear with the trike. Kevin
