Since I'm pretty new at this trike thing and haven't fully developed my trike muscles, yet, I've been somewhat hesitant to ride with my local club.
I did ride 25 miles on a club ride last Wednesday night but the ride was mainly in town and very laid back so it was no problem.
Today, however, I ventured out with my Road to one of our club's daily rides which was a 53 miler with a lot of rolling hills. The average speed was fairly tame, 14.1 mph, but it was a hard ride just the same with all of the hills. There were nine of us and I was the only one on a trike with one other guy on a VK2 lowracer and the rest were uprights. Everything went very well. I was almost always the first or second up the hills and had no trouble keeping up, even on the 25 mph tailwind stretches.
All in all, it was a success. The only real problem was some tightness in the hamstrings and the top of the calves. I'll suck my boom in a 1/4" and that should take care of it. The only other problem was this one old goat who kept complaining about how low that I was. That's OK, though, because he complains when I ride any of my recumbents.
Lastly, I'm pooped. It's a lot of work, but the fun-factor is way off the charts!
