My friend Darren joined Jujube and I on a two day trip to Newport, Huntington, Balboa and Corona Del Mar Beach. We rode three blocks to the Santa Ana River
Trail in Costa Mesa from our hotel. It's a seven mile ride to the end where we turned and rode to Huntington on the sidewalk next to the Coast Highway.
We turned around and rode down the peninsula and then took the ferry to Balboa Island and then headed to Corona Del Mar where we rode around for awhile and
then went to the point to watch the sun go down. We then headed back to the island and took the ferry back to Balboa and rode up the peninsula and back on the
River Trail to our hotel. We rode 52 miles that day and didn't have any problems falling asleep. The next morning we went back to the River Trail and
headed back to the beach where we rode another 42 miles that day until we had to go back to the hotel and pack up and leave for the desert.
This was the first time in a long time that I've been able to ride in day light because it's so hot in the desert, I have to ride at night right now. The weather was perfect and the night riding was great even though we had to wear our windbreakers. These beaches are so beautiful and so much fun to ride around. You can't ride on the sand but there are plenty of sidewalks to ride, places to eat and we took several photos of our two days. I've posted several on Catrike Group II on Flickr.com and more under Tickle Pink. Next month I'll be uploading the rest of the photos under Tickle Pink so you can see more of where we rode.
If anyone wants to ride near the beach where it's safe, the Newport Beach area is perfect for those of you in Calif. or anyone who is coming for a visit. We stayed at the La Quinta Hotel in Costa Mesa because it's very nice, clean, close to the bike trail and they allow dogs. The trail is only three blocks away and easy to get to .
While riding, I was looking for Hamachi and Fasttour but didn't see them.
