how did you do Dana, I heard reports that people were getting sandblasted, and the headwinds made it hard to finish.

I finished 150 miles. After my recent accident, I really didn't know how far I could go. I told myself at the start that if I returned to Furnace Creek
after 6pm, I would stop. I arrived at FC at about 7pm, and though I was feeling pretty good, the winds suddenly became terrible. I opted for a shower and
pizza instead. It was a great ride and I was thrilled to be able to ride that far. At one point, I turned around, but another recumbent rider got me back on
track. I'm definitely looking forward to the Solvang Double in 3 weeks.

I finally got round to logging into the Yuku instead of just lurking ! I couldnt get an entry for the spring DVD. I am going to try to get an entry for the
fall event. 150 miles is an impressive effort, what was the climbing like ? Come on we need a blow by blow account
I am being more realistic now about my attempts at securing a triple crown on the trike this year. The 100 mile time trial with no drafting allowed (4800 feet of climbing) was a real wake up call for me in terms of trike fitness. It took me about 6 1/2 hours to finish (results still havent been posted) but I tried really hard and my legs were shot at the end. The time lost on the climbs was significant enough to give me concerns over how long it would take me to do 200 miles. The plan is to try for a triple crown on my road bike and as such get a good idea what the courses are like. My last double is in June . If I manage to get the triple crown by June I plan to try a double on the trike (e.g Death Valley, Solvang Fall). I am playing major catch up to try to get my DF fitness ready for the Solvang double at the end of March so the poor trike is being neglected a bit. catching the flu hasnt helped either. I did a century on Saturday on the DF that is a definite for the trike next year (unfortunately my dog got sick back at home and I had to abandon at 60 miles). Very light traffic, good scenery and great rest stops. Snelling Covered Bridge Classic Century. |

Gotcha...I assumed you were signed up. Sorry you missed it. I did a full write up on the Bacchetta forum...didn't think it was appropriate here given I
wasn't on a trike. Perhaps I will see you at Solvang, although it will be much harder to tell you apart from the other riders if you are on a DF. I will
be on my Carbent, hoping to do 200 miles in the same time that it took me to do 150 in Death Valley! DVD has 9100 feet of climbing. I am guessing that 8500
of it was in the first 150 miles.
