Has anyone designed/made their own safety flags? I want a new one, and the ones for the Cats that have been posted are really good looking, but I want a
rather unusual one. If anyone has made their own, can they offer me some hints? And if you have, can we see some pictures? Any tips on sizes, materials, etc?

Material suggestion: Ripstop nylon. It's the stuff used to make big kites, some outerwear jacket shells, etc. It's a good idea to use a sewing machine
that can, at least, do a 3x3 stitch zig zag or overlock for edging
 It's also available in a bunch of... bright colors. Just be sure it's really rip
stop (you'll see sewn in rib like grids which stop a rip from passing through) and not screen printed look alike.
No, I haven't made flags - but I've used this material for other projects, and I think it would work well. |

Is that rip stop material hard to find? I could not find it before in our fabric store.
I was thinking about using a pre-made garden flag and adapting it to fit the flag pole. Seems like that would hold up well and the image is on both sides. Not exactly the shape I want, but definitely the image I want. |

Where can you get that rip stop material? I tried finding it in a fabric store once and couldn't find any.

Seattlefabrics is right down the street from me. No place better for the best odd stuff. Too bad I don't have a working sewing machine or serger. |
